Super Summer Challenge

The nights festivities open with a moment of silence in memory of Shohie Baba. The entire dome goes silent as the ring bell tolls ten times. After the moment has passed, a huge stream of fireworks explode overhead and the Super Summer Challenge begins. Let's go to the ring for the first match.

The first match of the evening begins as R.J. Harris comes to the ring. He receives a round of applause and is recognized by many of the Japanese fans. Taue is no stranger either and is really in need of a win tonight to break his slump. The match begins and Taue charges right at the smaller Harris. Taue backs him into the corner and the crowd applauds the clean break between the two. They restart in the middle of the ring. Taue goes for a side headlock and Harris slips away! Taue looks frustrated as he follows Harris around the ring. They go to lock up again and Harris surprises Taue with a quick kick to the mid-section. He hooks Taue...BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX! He goes for a quick pin...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! That was so close! Taue comes up mad and pays for it as Harris levels him with a dropkick! Taue rolls out of the ring to recover as Harris waits patiently inside. Taue rolls back in and Harris moves in. Taue catches him with a forearm to the ribs that stuns the Central States champ. He comes up and delivers a huge chop to Harris' chest...another...AND ANOTHER by Taue! Harris falls back and Taue follows up with a big clothesline that puts Harris down! R.J. is stunned and Taue moves in for the kill. He pulls Harris up...sets him...POWERBOMB! He covers...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Taue grabs Harris and locks him in an arm bar. He grinds down and Harris starts to try an escape. He rises to his feet...forearm by Harris...another shot and Taue releases the arm. Harris scoops him up...CHESTBREAKER BY HARRIS! Taue has the wind knocked out of him...Harris pulls him up again and shoots him to the ropes! Taue comes back...TILT-A-WHIRL BACKBREAKER! Harris covers...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Taue rolls out of the ring...Harris steps out on the apron...FLYING CLOTHESLINE OFF THE APRON!!! Taue goes down! Harris pulls him up...Taue grabs a choke...NODOWA CHOKESLAM OUT OF NOWHERE BY TAUE!!! Both men are down! The ref is counting both men out...Taue rises first and goes for the ring...Harris hooks him from behind...BELLY-TO-BACK SUPLEX! The referee is still counting...Harris rises to his feet...THE BELL RINGS! The referee declares this match a double count out at 16:32.

Hiroshi Hase

Power

Hase goes on the attack immediately against the much larger Power. Hase takes him down with a drop toe hold and floats into a rear ankle lock. Power uses his enormous strength to drag himself to the ropes to break the hold. Power rises to his feet only to be peppered by chops by Hase! Power backs into the corner and charges back with a HUGE FOREARM! Hase falls head over heels and scrambles to his feet. Power shakes out the ankle and moves in on Hase. He walks into a fast front kick that hits him in the solar-plexus. Hase follows up with a big chop that sends Power reeling! He rebounds off the ropes...Power catches him in a bear hug! Hase desperately needs to escape this hold! Power tightens his grip. Hase delivers a double chop to Power's trapezious muscles! Power doesn't budge! He fades back to the corner...he drops Hase into the turnbuckle! Power turns him around...whip to the corner. Hase hits hard...Power charges in with a clothesline...Hase moves! He falls behind Power...rolls him up...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Power rises to his feet and Hase goes for a small package...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Hase grabs Power by the leg...Power falls to his back...Hase goes for a spinning toe hold! Power reaches up...SMALL PACKAGE!!! ONE...TWO...KICKOUT BY HASE! Both men rise and Power clubs Hase with an elbow smash to the back of the head. Hase appears stunned as Power nails him with a big chop! Hase fires back with a forearm of his own! Power falls back into the ropes and LEVELS HASE WITH A HUGE CLOTHESLINE!!! Power signals for his finisher, the POWER SURGE! He pulls Hase up...sets him...HASE WITH A BACKDROP! That saved him from certain defeat! Hase drops an elbow on Power and goes for a cover...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Power starts to rise and Hase nails him with a baseball slide and puts him back down! Hase goes for the cover...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Hase pulls him up...nails him with a chop! Power staggers back and Hase rebounds off the opposite ropes...Power ducks a clothesline...Hase rebounds again...Power hits him with a kick to the mid-section! He sets Hase...POWERSURGE!!! Hase is out! Power covers...ONE...TWO...THREE!!! Power defeats Hiroshi Hase by pinfall at 20:19.

Yoshiaki Yatsu makes his way to the as Rickey Simcox awaits the arrival of his opponent.
He picks up a house mike... " I bring bad news Tokyo. I have just received a phone call from Masanobu Fuchi. He is stuck in the airport in Seoul, Korea. We are sorry, but tonights match will not be for the Jr. Heavyweight title. However, we will still have a Jr. Heavyweight match tonight. Ladies and Gentlemen, weighing in at 217 lbs., one of the greatest light weights in the history of our sport, let me introduce, ULTIMO DRAGON!!!" Down the aisle, decked out in gold and green comes Ultimo Dragon. He mounts the turnbuckle and back flips into the ring. He comes up pointing at Simcox. Simcox is young but it will take more than this to rattle him. The bell rings after Yatsu shakes hands with both men and exits the ring. The match starts fast as Simcox presses the offense early. He takes Dragon down three times with arm drags and hip tosses. Dragon comes back with a flying head scissors! Simcox rolls out of the ring. Dragon goes into a run and seems to be charging Simcox. Rickey moves out of the way, but Dragon puts on the breaks! He climbs to the top...SUICIDA BY DRAGON! What a move by Dragon! He flew 12 feet before he hit Simcox! Dragon rises to his feet...he jumps up to the apron...BACK ELBOW OFF THE APRON BY ULTIMO DRAGON! Dragon climbs into the ring to wait. Simcox rises slowly to his feet. Dragon goes for a baseball slide...Simcox moves...Dragon is on the floor now...HUGE DROPKICK ON THE FLOOR BY SIMCOX!!! Rickey climbs back into the ring as Dragon slowly rises to his feet. He rolls into the ring and Simcox moves in on him. He pulls Dragon up...SNAP SUPLEX! Simcox grabs Dragon into a chinlock and places his knee in the middle of Dragon's back. Dragon reaches back but can't grab anything! Simcox drops an elbow across Dragon's head and nose. He goes for the cover...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT BY DRAGON! Simcox pulls him up. Dragon grabs Simcox and quickly locks him into an overhand wristlock! Simcox tries to power out of the hold...Dragon steps on the back of Simcox's leg and he goes down! Dragon pulls Simcox up...shoots him to the ropes...back drop by Dragon! Simcox goes down hard! Dragon runs off the ropes...BIG SPLASH BY DRAGON! He goes for the cover again! ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Dragon pushes him down and covers again...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Dragon covers a third time...ONE...TW..KICKOUT! Simcox rises fast and unloads on Dragon with a series of chops and forearm shots! Dragon stumbles back and Simcox nails him with a short arm clothesline! He covers Dragon...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT!
Simcox pulls Dragon to his feet...STANDING DROPKICK! He covers...ONE...TWO...TH..KICKOUT AGAIN BY DRAGON! Simcox is getting frustrated. He pulls Dragon to his feet again...hooks him for a northern lights suplex...Dragon blocks...DDT!!! Both men lay on the mat, dazed and glassy eyed. Simcox starts to rise first...he's almost up...Dragon kips up to his feet...HE WAS PLAYING OPOSSUM...ANOTHER DDT BY DRAGON!!! He climbs to the top rope...MOONSAULT...SIMCOX BRINGS UP THE KNEES!!! Both men are down again! The ref starts the count...Dragon isn't moving...Simcox slowly rises to his feet. He moves for the top rope...MOONSAULT BY SIMCOX...HE MISSED!!! Dragon rolled out of the way at the last second! He slowly rolls back and drapes an arm across Simcox! The referee is down to make the count...ONE...TWO...THREE!!! The Ultimo Dragon defeated Rickey Simcox by pinfall at 27:48. Both men take several minutes to rise to their feet. Dragon and Simcox stumble to mid-ring to shake hands to the delight of the 80,000 plus in attendance.

Dark Reign

This one starts off fast and furious as Sledge Williams, the smaller, faster member of Dark Reign and Jun Akiyama square off. Both men seem to spend more time above the mat than they do on it. Williams takes control at the eleven minute mark after a side slam. He pulls Akiyama up and tags in Tom Jackson, the power man of the team. Williams throws Akiyama to the ropes...Jackson rebounds from the opposite side...HUGE FLYING CLOTHESLINE BY JACKSON! He covers...ONE...KICKOUT! Akiyama still seems to have some fight in him yet! Jackson pulls him up and drops a heavy forearm across his back! The sound of that blow was heard in the cheap seats! Akiyama cries out in pain as Jackson hammers him across the back again! He backs Akiyama into a neutral corner...he starts to lay in knees and chops as the ref warns him to get the man out of the corner. Jackson backs off and the crown applauds the break. Both men lock up in the ring...Akiyama catches Jackson with a quick hiptoss and rolls to the corner. He tags in Misawa! The crowds cheers are deafening as Misawa charges Jackson! Misawa nails Jackson with a series of elbow shots that stagger the bigger man...Misawa rebounds off the ropes...another elbow sends Jackson to the mat! Misawa immediately catches Jackson in a crossface and hooks the arm. Jackson is in a lot of pain! Misawa rears back and applies more pressure as Jackson strains to reach the ropes. Jackson starts to power his way up...Misawa breaks the hold. Jackson starts to back peddle as Misawa moves in on him. Jackson surprises Misawa with a big boot to the face! Misawa staggers a step or two back and Jackson levels him with a European uppercut! He tags in Williams! Dark Reign pull Misawa up...DOUBLE VERTICAL SUPLEX! Williams goes for the cover...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT!!! Williams pulls him up. He backs Misawa into the ropes...BIG CHOP!!! Another chop by Williams! Misawa fires back with a forearm shot that rocks Williams!!! Misawa turns Williams around and shoots him to the ropes...Williams reverses...BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX!!! Williams covers...ONE...TWO...THR..KICKOUT!!! Misawa needs to tag out...Williams pulls him up again. He hooks him for a suplex...MISAWA REVERSES!!! Williams is dazed! Misawa gets the tag and here comes Akiyama!!! He nails Williams with a leg drop and goes for the cover...ONE...TWO...THR..KICKOUT BY MISAWA! He pulls Williams up and gets an elbow to the head for the effort! Williams chops Akiyama then drops him with a big right hand! The ref warns Williams about the fist as he pulls Akiyama up. He tags Jackson back in. Jackson charges Akiyama...Misawa starts to enter the ring! Akiyama catches Jackson in mid run...EXPLODER SUPLEX!!! He goes for the cover as Misawa heads Williams off...ONE...TWO...THREE!!! Mitsuhara Misawa and Jun Akiyama defeat Dark Reign by pinfall at 33:04 to retain the All Asia Tag Team Championship. As the champions leave the ring Dark Reign seem to be discussing the finish of the match. They'll be back I'm sure.

The huge crowd in the Egg Dome is buzzing with anticipation as the main event draws near. The anticipation ends as Mike Bell begins the long walk to the ring. The Japanese fans strain to catch a glimpse of the U.S. Champion that they have all heard of. Bell enters the ring and raises his hand to acknowledge the fans. Kobashi comes to the ring next and the crowd cheers the All Asia Champion. Both men stand face to face and shake hands as the bell rings. Kobashi starts out on the attack as he uses his tremendous strength to push Bell around. Bell returns the favor by dazzling the fans as well as his opponent by taking Kobashi down three consecutive times with three different moves! Kobashi smiles as he climbs to his feet. Both men lock up again and Bell goes to a side head lock. Kobashi shoots him to the ropes and Bell comes back with a body press! ONE...KICKOUT BY KOBASHI! Both men jump to their feet and Kobashi nails Bell with a CRUSHING CLOTHESLINE!!! He grabs Bell in a sitting hammerlock. He uses his free arm to apply a chinlock to Bell. This is a submission that is rarely used in the U.S., it will be interesting to see how Bell deals with this. He reaches back and gets a handful of hair and the ref slaps his hand away. Bell reaches back again but can't get a hold of anything to escape with. Kobashi torques down again and Bell winces! The pressure must be incredible! Bell starts to move his head back and forth...Kobashi releases the chinlock to get a better grip...Bell sits out and reverses the hold!! WHAT A MOVE BY BELL! Kobashi goes to his stomach and gets a hand to the ropes. Kobashi rolls out of the ring and Bell waits in the ring. Kobashi climbs back into the ring and locks up with Bell again and Bell puts him to the mat with a single leg take down. Kobashi fires off a forearm shot from the mat that knocks Bell off of him! Kobashi rolls over and slams Bell's head to the mat. He rises and pulls Bell up...he hooks him...ATOMIC DROP! Bell sinks to his knees and Kobashi nails him with a WICKED KICK TO THE BACK! That one hurt!!! Kobashi pulls him up again...BELLY-TO-BACK SUPLEX! Kobashi covers Bell...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Kobashi pulls him back up...Bell whirls around with a forearm! Kobashi fires back with a forearm of his own! Both men are exchanging blows in the center of the ring! Bell ducks a back elbow and drops Kobashi on his face. He immediately grabs Kobashi's right leg and applies a reverse leg lock! Kobashi is too far from the ropes to break the hold. Bell lifts the leg up and drives Kobashi's knee to the mat! He applies the hold again and Kobashi is in real trouble now as Bell continues to pull on the knee! Bell changes strategy and pulls Kobashi to his feet. The time keeper announces that thirty minutes have elapsed. Bell hooks Kobashi...he has him up...KNEE BREAKER BY BELL!!! Kobashi needs to mount some offense or this match is over! Bell grabs the leg and applies a step over toe hold. That knee can't take much more of this. Bell switches to the spinning toe hold! Bell spins around and bends a little too low...KOBASHI WITH A SMALL PACKAGE...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Bell was surprised by that one! He comes up and pulls Kobashi up as well. He grabs the leg again...he lifts him for another knee breaker...KOBASHI TURNS AND COMES DOWN ON BELL...ONE...TWO...KICKOUT! Bell looks a little mad now as he slaps the staggering Kobashi in the middle of the back! He slaps him again and puts him down with a DROP KICK TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD!!! Kobashi may be out! Bell covers...ONE...TWO...THR..KICKOUT! He covers again...ONE...TWO...THR..KICKOUT!!! Bell can't believe it! He pulls Kobashi up again and sets him for a German suplex...Kobashi fires back with two big elbows...he run off the ropes and nails Bell with a FLYING SHOULDER TACKLE!!! Both men are down!!! Bell starts to rise...SMALL PACKAGE BY KOBASHI...ONE...TWO...THR..KICKOUT!!! Both men come to their feet and begin exchanging blows. They both fall to their knees but continue to chop away at each other! What a battle these two men are in! Kobashi finally floors Bell with a forearm shot with two minutes left in the match! He pulls Bell up and sets him for a powerbomb! Bell blocks once...blocks twice...BACKDROP!!! Both men are down with ONE MINUTE LEFT IN THE TIME LIMIT!!! Bell slowly comes to his feet... HE SIGNALS FOR THE NATURAL LOCK!!! He 's got Kobashi in the hold...he rolls him over...HE'S GOT THE NATURAL LOCK WITH THIRTY SECONDS LEFT!!! The ref is asking Kobashi if he wants to quit!!! FIFTEEN SECONDS LEFT! TEN SECONDS...KOBASHI IS PUSHING UP!!! FIVE SECONDS AND BELL IS STRAINING TO KEEP THE HOLD!!! KOBASHI BREAKS THE HOLD AS THE BELL RINGS!!! The referee declares that the 60 minute time limit has expired. This match is a draw.
Both men slowly roll outside of the ring. Bell walks over to the limping Kobashi and the two men embrace for a moment and then shake hands. The crowd gives both men a standing ovation as they walk back up the aisle together.
