"Heartbreak"
detailed results
The Carolina
Wrestling Federation / FWA-Carolinas returned to the Graham Rec.
Center in Graham, NC for the event entitled "Heartbreak."
The great crowd enjoyed a night of family entertainment featuring
some of the top wrestlers to be found anywhere. Seven big bouts
including three title matches were featured.
The opening bout
saw the debuting tag team of The Kamikaze Duo face the
rugged tandum of Rob "The Bull" McBride &
"Slick" Ric Converse with the lovely Special
K. The Duo has the fans solidly behind them, but fell short
to the rulebreaking pair. Converse scored the pinfall after a
top rope frogslash after 11:05 of non-stop action. The crowd
booed the victors out of the building as they showed their disapproval
of the tactics used by McBride and Converse.
A
special 2-on-3 handicap match pitted the 7-foot giant Granite
& The Amazing Sideshow against The Canadian Assassins
I & II and long time veteran L.A. Stephens. Stephens
did not seem to happy to have been paired with the Canadian team.
Granite scored the pinfall after chokeslamming the Canadians
at the 9:20 mark. The crowd cheered wildly for the victory but
Granite seemed very upset that the cheers were directed towards
the debuting Amazing Sideshow. Granite took out his frustrations
by clotheslining his parter! L.A. Stephens was quick to assist
the Sideshow. Look for this to result in a special return match.
The FWA Women's
World Champion, Amber Holly, defended her title against
the # 3 ranked contender in the FWA, GeeStar. GeeStar
had pinned Holly last month and secured herself a title match
at "Heartbreak." The two battled fiercely until the
Gemini Kid slipped to ringside to try and help GeeStar get the
title. Mikael Yamaha quickly chased his nemesis away, but not
before Gemini jerked Holly to the mat with a handful of hair.
GeeStar was not able to capitalize on the interference and was
soon slammed to the mat with a downward spiral by Holly. The
champion scored the pinfall in 6:21 to retain the title.
What many are calling
"The Dream Team," ECW superstars C.W. Anderson
& Cham Pain took on the challenge of "Awesome"
Jeff Justice & Steel. The crowd responded to
"The Dream Team" with a thunderous roar of approval
for their every action. That match finally came to a decisive
conclussion as Cham Pain sent Steel into the ropes. Steel jumped
over Cham Pain but unfortunately for him, right into the awaiting
arms of C.W. Anderson who then delivered his a patented spinebuster.
The crowd exploded as Anderson scored the pinfall after 8:52
of tag team action.
The
$outh$ide Playas
defended their FWA-Carolinas Tag Team Titles against the Storm
Brothers. The was a match that many have wanted to see all
year. No one was disappointed as the teams battled for the gold.
The Storm Brothers had apparently won the title when Joe Storm
pinned L.A. Cash at the 11:42 mark after Damien Storm knocked
Cash out with a kendo stick. The fans were at a near riot as
referee Charles Richardson slid into the ring to make the count
after referee Vern Stevens was knocked down. However, Stevens
over-ruled the decision and ordered the match restarted. The
Playas quickly regrouped and delivered one of their many unique
finishing double team moves on Damien Storm. L.A. Cash made the
cover and the three count at 12:50 to retain their tag team titles.
While the fans celebrated the Storms weren't so happy about the
turn of events. They attacked the Playas, brutalizing L.A. Cash
with the kendo stick resulting in Cash being carried from the
ringside area in a stretcher that was intended for use in the
main event. The Storms also took the title belts proclaiming
themselves the "real champions." A rematch has already
been signed for March 23rd. Cash is still suffering from his
injuries but J-Money has stated that the match will take place,
"The Playas are gonna get their gold back and teach the
Storms a lesson... Southside style."
Gemini
Kid sqaured
off with FWA-Carolinas Cruiserweight Champion, Mikael Yamaha,
in his long awaiting title match. But due to the interfearance
by Gemini earlier in the night, Commissioner William L. Cross
added Sexton Tyler to the match, making it a 3-Way Dance,
and in doing so, forcing two falls to capture the title. Gemini
did all he could think of to cause more problems between the
two brothers during the match. He managed to slip out of the
ring and watch the brothers go at it at one point. Gemini returned
to the action and stunned Tyler, dropping him out of the ring.
After a back-and-forth exchange, Gemini pinned Yamaha with a
Tiger Driver at the 5:32 mark to eliminate the champion. Tyler
was quickly back in the ring getting several nearfalls on Gemini
but couldn't keep him down. Gemini eventually rolled up Tyler
but used his feet on the ropes for leverage. Referee Charles
Richardson counted to three and the fans erupted with boos. Richardson
wasn't sure of the illegal manuever that Gemini had used but
the crowd quickly told him. Richardson then ordered the match
to continue despite the pleas from Gemini. Tyler quickly lifted
Gemini up into a full vertical suplex and then turned it into
a devastating diamond cutter. This was enough for Tyler to get
the deciding pinfall at the 7:05 mark and become the new FWA-Carolinas
Cruiserweight Champion.
In what
was originally scheduled to be a stretcher match, Madd Maxx battled
Otto Schwanz to determine who would remain the # 1 contender
to the heavyweight title. With the stretcher gone after taking
L.A. Cash to the hospital, the match was changed to a "Falls
Count Anywhere No Disqualification Match." The fans didn't
seem to mind as the two took their brand of mayhem throughout
the Recreation Center. Fans, security, chairs, and trashcans
were all involved in the brawl that eventually saw Madd Maxx
get the pinfall in 12:04.
