The CWF debut
of Joey "Spank" Silvia was nothing short of
spectacular. Spank battle the grizzly veteran Kurt Solo
to open up the show. Solo was looking for a victory over the
high flying Spank to propel him into consideration for the FWA
contender rankings. Solo did his best to ground Spank but it
would not last after Spank nailed Solo with leg drop from the
second rope. Spank followed that up with a forward rolling fireman's
carry immediately into a moonsault. Spank scored the pinfall
at the 6:59 mark much to the crowd's delight and earning himself
a spot in the new cruiserweight rankings.
Rookie sensation
Johnny Blaze returned to Graham to take on the internationally
seasoned Ethan Cage. Both stars pulled out some amazing
new manuevers but neither could get a three count. Cage eventually
slipped up and was caught in the "3rd Degree" (spinning
Rock Bottom) by Blaze who captured the pinfall after 10:49.
The new FWA Carolinas
Tag Team Champions, The Main Attraction (Chris Steele
& Scott Powers), faced the toughest first title defense that
any team could ever imagine. The champions faced the undeated
"Dream Team" of C.W. Anderson & Cham Pain.
The fans in Graham were expecting a tough battle and they got
one. They also expected to see the title reign of The Main Attraction
end. They were in for a surprise. Although Anderson and Cham
Pain
came very close, it was the years of teamwork of Chris Steele
and Scott Powers that came through in the end. Anderson was knocked
out of the ring allowing Powers to deliver a devastating DVD
on Cham Pain. Chris Steele grabbed Cham Pain's legs from outside
the ring to insure the resulting pinfall at the 9:06 mark. The
Main Attraction passed the test and their grip on the tag team
titles looks to be very, very tight.
HYP manager Brad
Stutts secured a rematch for "Slick" Ric Converse
after losing in his bid last month for the FWA Carolinas Cruiserweight
Title against champion Sexton Tyler. Tyler overcame all
odds to retain his title and scored the victory after senior
referee Vern Stephens entered the ring to count the fall.
Stutts appealed the decision all the way to England, where the
FWA President, Elisar Cabrera, ruled that since the official
referee did not count the fall, a rematch was in order.
Stutts
refused to stay at ringside and be locked in the cage that Commissioner
William L. Cross had for him, but Converse's lovely valet,
Special K was. The two cruiserweights nailed several spectacular
moves but nothing could keep the other down. Referee Charles
Richardson, once again allowed the rulebreaking by Converse
and Special K throughout the match. Finally the 350-lbs.
HYP member, "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel stormed
the ring and crushed Tyler with a huge splash! Referee Charles
Richardson overlooked this blatent interference again! This brought
out Gemini Kid who jumped Edsel at ringside with a flurry
of punches. Converse nailed a top rope frogsplash afterwards.
Gemini slid into the ring to stop the count but was pulled out
by Edsel. The referee counted to three after 9:59 and awarded
the title to "Slick" Ric Converse.
Edsel slammed
Gemini's injured shoulder into the post several times then applied
a standing Fujiwara armbar, increasing the damaged to the shoulder
of Gemini. Brad Stutts came running to the ring with streamers
and confetti to celebrate the first title won by the HYP.
With Gemini Kid
injured, it appeared the master plan of Brad Stutts was all in
place. The cruiserweight title was now in his stable and Mikael
Yamaha was going to have to face the 350-lbs. monster "Dangerous
E" Corey Esdel and a mystery partner by himself. Stutts
revealed the mystery partner to be none other than the FWA Carolinas
Heavyweight Champion, Otto Schwanz! Yamaha was going to
have to face over a combined 600-lbs. of terror by himself!
As
Stutts gloated about his plan, Commissioner William L. Cross
ordered Stutts in to the 6-foot cage at ringside to prevent any
interference. Stutts tried sprinted to the back but ran into
a surprise of his own. Yamaha had recruited Madd Maxx
to substitute for the injured Gemini Kid. Maxx stopped Stutts
in his tracks and Cross tossed Stutts into the cage as the fans
cheered wildly!
Yamaha
and Madd Maxx battled the powerful combination of Edsel and Schwanz
with Yamaha at the definite disadvantage because of his size.
With some miscommunication between Edsel and Schwanz, Maxx was
able to slam the huge Edsel and fire Yamaha off the top rope
with a "Rocket Launcher" that saw Yamaha soar higher
than ever for the splash. The pinfall followed after 9:07 of
hard fought action was Yamaha and Madd Maxx picked up the victory.
The
celebration wasn't over yet. Madd Maxx, crazy as ever, led the
many young fans that dispise Brad Stutts to the cage. They all
threw drinks at the caged manager as he went wild inside his
locked box of punishment seeing his plan fall apart and then
tormented by the fans afterwards.
