News from the Camp of The Serial Thrillaz

Check out the updated schedule under Events as well as the updates to the Links section and 8 new pictures in the Gallery!

The Thrillaz thank Walt Rabon for all the great photographs. Nearly 40 of the pictures in the Serial Thrillaz gallery have come from Walt. Thanks a lot Walt!

Shane Helms thanks Jase Douglas. A true Die-hard fan who drove all the way from Canada to see me wrestle, and also bought me an authentic Hockey Jersey. Thanks a lot Jase!

The Serial Thrillaz will be facing the WWF's Hardy Boyz in the rings of NWA Mid-Atlantic on April 23rd, 1999 in Greenville,NC. This will be the third meeting between the two teams and is sure to be a crowd pleaser as their first two encounters are already "hot-sellers" on the underground video market!

Shane Helms recently faced former WWF Superstar Doink the Clown in Greenville, NC. The match proved to be one of athletic challenge and crowd entertainment as Doink used confetti, a fake ice-cream cone, and silly string in his match with Helms. After the match Helms had this to say, "I knew what Doink was about, but I don't think anyone can really be prepared for his antics. But, Shane Helms is still Shane Helms and I guarantee that Doink knows that now as well!"

The Serial Thrillaz recently faced the ACCW Tag-Team Champions, The RingBusters, and a new team called The Kings of Steel in a triple threat triangle match. The match was complete chaos with no team ever establishing a clear advantage until the Thrillaz hit one of the RingBusters with the Falling Star Bomb! The match was held under the CPWA banner which now recognizes Shane Helms and Mike Maverick as their number one tag-team!

"The Show" Shane Helms faced "Stylin" Shane Eden for the first time ever recently for NWA Worldwide. Eden was insisting that he was the best "Shane" in wrestling. However, after losing the match, Eden attacked Helms. Helms responded by saying, "It started over something as silly as a name, but now it's really personal. I'm gonna show that spider monkey look-a-like that he doesn't have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with The Show!"

The matches between The Serial Thrillaz and CW Anderson &Toad keep getting hotter and better. Their latest encounter was a best-of-three falls which saw CW & Toad take the first fall with a clean pin on Helms by Anderson. "No excuses, I just got caught," says Helms. But redemption came in the second fall as Shane reversed a Powerbomb by CW into a DDT to even the score for the ST. The third fall was a contest of wills and "chairs" which saw The Thrillaz take out Toad with a Powerbomb/CrossBody combination. The Thrillaz both agree that CW &Toad have been their toughest challenge in the SCW!

"The Show" Shane Helms and Mike Youngblood recently competed for the Number One ranking in the ranks of NWA Mid-Atlantic Wrestling. The match was very competitive on both sides, with both men taking various high-risk manuevers, but in the end Helms rolled Youngblood up for the 3-count and the victory.

"The Show" Shane Helms defeated WWO mainstay Harrison to become the first-ever World Wrestling Organization Lightweight Champion on Feb. 27th, 1999 in Morehead, NC. Harrison jumped Shane before the bell in hopes to bring the bigger man down. However, Helms used a T-Bone Suplex to trample any hopes Harrison had of an early advantage. Helms dominated from that point before being hit with an X-Factor from an attempted PowerBomb. Harrison capitalized on the weakened Helms before being hit with a Super Powerslam (ala Terry Gordy). Harrison used an Acid Drop to put Helms down again but in the process also took out the referee. Roger Kerr, an associate to WWO owner James Thurston came out and hit Harrison with the WWO Lightweight Title (whether this was intentional or not is not known). Harrison staggered backwards into Helms' ShowStopper NeckBreaker, Helms pulled the ref over to administer the count, and a new champ was crowned, "The Show" Shane Helms!

In a match between the two most powerful wrestlers in the World Wrestling Organization, Chilly Willy pinned Mike Maverick to retain the WWO Rumble Title. Maverick, however, clearly dominated the contest but was distracted in the late stages of the match by the very sexy and provocative Reign, who accompanies Willy to the ring. "Since I had Chillberg down, I just figured I would try to score a little action for later in the evening. Chillberg got up, hit me with a lucky move, and got the cheap win. But rest assured, he knew, and the crowd knew, that not only did I have the match in hand, but that his valet had eyes for the Big Daddy!"

Friday Feb. 26th 1999, Shane Helms was a guest of DJ Big Rob on 97.5 K-Power Radio. Helms spoke about The Serial Thrillaz, Bad Street Boys, and a few other things going on in his career right now. He gave "shout-outs" to the entire OMEGA Powers as well as others and joked around with Big Rob who is a huge wrestling fan.

In the anticipated rematch, in the SCW House of Hardcore Berkley Cafe, Shane Helms and Mike Maverick once again defeated the team of Toad and C.W. Anderson to retain the SCW Tag-Team Titles. Toad and C.W. took the early advantage with several innovative maneuvers, but the tide of battle turned in favor of the Serial Thrillaz after a Chokeslam Bomb courtesy of Mike Maverick. Maverick and Helms then proceeded to punish Toad until C.W. made the tag. However, C.W. accidentally hit Toad with a steel chair. Then, when C.W. turned around, Maverick had a chair of his own which was used to blast C.W.'s head. Shane made the cover, the ref made the three-count, and the rest , they say, is ST history!

Due to a scheduling conflict the anticipated first meeting between "The Show" Shane Helms and "Mr. Monday Night" Rob Van Dam has been postponed. "Well, I can't say that I'm not disappointed at the postponement of this match, but Shane Helms and Rob Van Dam will still be in the St. Augustine, FL. just with different opponents." Possible names being thrown around to challenge Helms are Spike Dudley and Billy Black.

In a Four-Team Tournament to determine new champions, The Serial Thrillaz added the SCW Tag-Team Titles to their collection. The Thrillaz utilized the Falling Star Bomb to eliminate the team of Chris Stephenson and James "Poison" Ivey in the first round while the team of C.W. Anderson and Toad defeated The Stalkers. Then in the final match, C.W. tried to hit Shane Helms with a steel chair, but the chair ended up in the hands of Mike Maverick. At this point, the referee tried to take the chair away from Mike, and as Mike pulled the chair away from the ref, the chair smashed Toad in the face, making him the pinfall victim.

Big Daddy Mike Maverick will challenge Chilly Willy for the WWO Rumble Title. Chilly and Maverick have faced each other several times with victories going to each side. "Willy is one of the few wrestlers in my power range, but it's time for me to teach him just who the Big Daddy is!!!"

Shane Helms will face WWO mainstay Harrison in a match to determine a WWO Lightweight Champion. "I view this almost as a match against my former self. Harrison is a legit Lightweight while I am on the border line between Lightweight and Heavyweight. For so many years, I was the David taking on every Goliath that came along, and I had tremendous success. Now I will see how it is with the roles reversed. I will give Harrison the edge in speed and quickness, but I am still the best mat wrestler in the game. And if he wants to take flight, well, we all know that I want hesitate to get airborne!"

In what several spectators called "The Best Match I've Ever Seen" Shane Helms and Mike Maverick defeated The Hardy Boyz to once again become the OMEGA Tag-Team Champions. A Pro-Thrillaz crowd screamed themselves silly as Matt and Jeff came extremely close on several occasions to defeating the ST. But after The Thrillaz nailed the Falling Star Bomb on Matt Hardy, the end was never in question. After the match Shane said, "As far as I am concerned the two Best teams in the world fought tonight, and despite the outcome, their were no losers! We were the first OMEGA Tag Champs, but this time means so much more as we defeated a truly great tag-team." For complete show results, click here!

The match was scheduled to be for the SCW North Carolina Heavyweight Title, but the commissioner of SCW came out and said that despite Shane's success as a Lightweight/Cruiserweight, that he hadn't earned a shot at a Heavyweight Championship. He then stated that since Helms was under the impression that he would receive a title shot, if he won this match, then he would be granted a title shot! The match was a true classic as C.W. matched Shane move for move before being falling victim to a Tornado DDT for the 1-2-3."

Shane Helms and Mike Maverick remain frustrated in the rings of the World Wrestling Organization. "Three matches, and three times we've been robbed," said Maverick. "Steel chairs, feet on the ropes, cookie sheets, and title belts have all come into play in our matches. What are these guys so afraid of? Oh yeah, I know, The Serial Thrillaz!" Helms interjected, "What's gonna happen is that they're gonna force us into a situation where we have to seriously injure someone. Remember, Shane Helms was going through tables back in '92, before ECW or the WWO was even thought of! The fact remains that the WWO knows that The Serial Thrillaz are the best Tag-Team in the independents and it's only a matter of time before we dominate the WWO just like we dominate everywhere else!"

Shane Helms and Mike Maverick will face The Rock-n-Roll Express in Greenville, NC on March 26th, 1999. Even though Greenville is deep in the Heart of "Rock-n-Roll" Territory, the Thrillaz are confident of a victory. "When the ODB plays, and The Thrillaz arrive, we will prove to those old-timers that the Leaders of the New School, The Serial Thrillaz, are the Best Tag-Team going, today!"

Shane Helms, on an impressive win streak in SCW, has been named the Number One Contender to the North Carolina Heavyweight Title recently won by C.W. Anderson! "C.W. is a great talent, and I look forward to this confrontation. But while C.W. relies heavily on a chair made of steel, Shane Helms relies on pure unbridled skill! So, C.W. prepare to Feel the Thrill!"

Shane Helms was scheduled to face "The Dynamo" Shannon Moore in singles competition, but the arrival of the enigmatic Willow the Whisp altered things. Helms and Moore both agreed to a Triple-Threat Match challenge issued forth by Willow. Willow, however, was the first man eliminated (via countout) which led to the original one-on-one confrontation between Moore and Helms. Helms won the four-star match with his Showstopper Neckbreaker!
